Challenges

An intranet portal providing quick access to information within an enterprise. It should engage employees quickly, provide support and should help them connected regardless of their geographic locations. Some of the business needs were

Business needs was to offer easy to use, engaging Intranet to all staff.
People should be able to quickly find their relevant news, documents and other details.

3. It should also display

Latest emails on Intranet itself for the current user
Upcoming meetings for the current user
Latest files the current user working with
Yammer communication channel updates

4. When user wants to read more about specific news item, he should click and be able to read complete news article.

Technical Objective

SharePoint Online (Office 365) is chosen as a platform to design and develope this Intranet

We developed master page, page layouts and page design to implement the expected design

Feature expected on landing page like trending news articles are implemented using various components like jQuery, CSS, JSLink etc.

Features on landing page like Emails, Files and Events are implemented using jQuery and Microsoft Graph APIs.

Yammer integration is done using Yammer application embedding using Content Editor web part.

Solution

Using iOS we developed an app as per the customer’s requirements.

Created a user-friendly interface through which users could get a clear idea about the entire app and use it easily.

Collected all data via API at once, including language settings, and document list, to give the customer the best experience possible when using the app.
